A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from their club that contains a statement on the proposed takeover of the Toon by PCP Capital Partners, Reuben Brothers and PIF.
This statement confirmed that the Premier League had formally rejected the takeover.
The club is now exploring all options available as they do not think the Premier League or Richard Masters have acted appropriately.
The statement also claims that the PL were supplied with ‘overwhelming evidence‘ that the Saudi state and PIF were separate, but the deal was still rejected.
Do you think the takeover is off now?
Yes, it has been officially rejected
No, this is just the start
This has drawn the attention of these Newcastle fans who are pleased by this statement.

The deal was initially withdrawn on the 30th of July after it was first handed to the PL in April, but the Premier League failed to decide, and the takeover was withdrawn.
Now it has been officially rejected, but that has opened up the possibility of legal action, and it is claimed that Ashley has a strong case against the Premier League.

It is claimed that Ashley is ‘furious’, and in the statement, it states that he ‘understands fans’ frustrations‘ and that he was fully committed to the club’s sale.
It is unclear what the next step is in this takeover saga, but if Ashley has a strong legal case, then this could go to court and be decided there.
This is definitely one to keep an eye on over the coming days and weeks.
