Supporters of Newcastle United have been reacting to a tweet regarding Michael Owen’s prediction for the Toon’s clash with West Ham United.
On Saturday, Steve Bruce’s Newcastle get their 2020/21 Premier League campaign underway as they travel to the London Stadium to face David Moyes’ Hammers (per BBC).
However, the former Toon striker, Owen, predicted Newcastle would be defeated by the Irons when giving predictions to a betting website (via Chronicle Live, live blog, 13:38, 10/09/20).
He said: “I think this game may come a touch too soon for [Bruce] to bed his new signings in and as such I see David Moyes’ men getting off to a winning start with a 2-1 win to the Hammers.”
This was relayed to social media by The Chronicle and it had lots of Newcastle fans talking.

Owen and supporters of Newcastle are no stranger to run-ins as the player and the fanbase have previously caused frustrations for one another (via Chronicle Live).
What do you think the outcome of the West Ham game will be for Newcastle?
Win
Draw
Loss
What a surprise

The 40-year-old Englishman spent four years at St. James’ Park after he signed for the Toon for £22.5m from Spanish gargantuan Real Madrid (per Transfermarkt).
During his time with Newcastle, the striker made 79 appearances for the club in which he scored 30 goals and provided two assists.
I’ve tipped Michael Owen to say something really boring and pointless this weekend.
Let’s see who’s right, shall we?

As can be seen in these responses from Newcastle supporters, they were clearly frustrated with the suggestion from Owen that they would lose against the Hammers.
