LFC Daytrippers contributor Grizz Khan has been discussing the situation regarding Liverpool winger Harry Wilson during a recent edition of the podcast.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Bournemouth where he made 31 appearances and scored seven goals in the Premier League (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk). Unfortunately for the Cherries, despite their best efforts, they were relegated and Wilson has now returned to Anfield.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

According to Goal, the Welsh international is one of a number of players the Reds are hoping to sell this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to ‘trim’ down his squad. When discussing the latest on the left-footed player’s future, here is what Khan had to say:

“He’s definitely not going on loan, and we’ve made that clear to every club that has enquired and said, ‘look, give us x amount’, the ‘x amount’ is supposed to be around the £20m mark, I’m sure we’re flexible with that. But at the moment, teams are taking the [mickey] with their offers to us and we have every right to refuse them. It’s frustrating, we want movement out so we can see movement in, but every club is doing what they’ve got to do for themselves to get the best deal.”

TIF Thoughts…

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the player is valued at £15.75m and therefore, the £20m Khan claims Liverpool are looking for doesn’t seem too unfair. He also mentioned that the club may be “flexible” on that in order to get a deal done during this transfer window and in our view, it seems as though they may have to be.

Wilson’s average performance rating in the English top-flight last season was a solid 6.52/10 according to WhoScored and we should take into consideration that this was earned playing for a team who struggled during the 2019/20 campaign. He could still leave Anfield between now and the end of this current window, however, it seems nobody has met the club’s valuation of the winger to date.
