Chris Hamill, Dougie Critchley and Patrick van Straaten discussed all the latest Premier League news on the most recent edition of Football Daily’s Sunday Vibes and during the show, Critchley spent some time talking about Liverpool and their activity during the current transfer window.

Following their title-winning 2019/20 campaign, the Reds have signed just one new player, former Olympiacos left-back Konstantinos Tsimikas, in the current transfer window, while Dejan Lovren, Ovie Ejaria, Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Andy Lonergan have all departed from the club.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

The Reds missed out on signing reported transfer target Timo Werner earlier in the transfer window, while they have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara but they are yet to actually sign him.

Critchley shared a negative assessment of the Reds’ business in the current transfer window during the latest edition of Football Daily’s Sunday Vibes, saying: “It has been a disappointing window, I’ve got to say that.

“I think they made a massive mistake in not signing Timo Werner, they’re still stalling over a deal for Thiago, although I would’ve thought that would go through at some stage.

“Apparently [Jurgen] Klopp is very keen on the deal, Thiago’s very keen on the deal, they’re just ‘umming and ahhing’ about the price, but for me, to sign one of the best midfielders in the world and have him locked down for the next three years, by which time he’ll be 32, is a great move – but otherwise, their summer has been quite quiet.”

TIF Thoughts…

Considering that Liverpool have brought in just one new player at present, it may be understandable why Critchley seems to be underwhelmed by their transfer business in the current transfer window.

However, the Premier League’s transfer window is set to remain open until 5th October so maybe it is still too soon to judge their business, as the Reds might be leaving it late to get some important deals done.
