A lot of Leeds United fans have flocked to Twitter to slam Barry Douglas for his performance in the Whites’ League Cup loss to Hull City.
Leeds scored a last-minute equaliser to take the game to penalties, but eventually lost 9-8 in the following shootout.
Douglas was on the pitch for the full game on Wednesday and according to WhoScored, he played more key passes (three) than any other Leeds United player and also played more accurate crosses (three) than any other Leeds player against Hull City, with no other member of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad managing to play a single accurate cross in this League Cup fixture.
However, this didn’t impress some Whites supporters, many of whom took to Twitter to slate the 31-year-old left-back’s performance in this game.
Douglas was disappointing tonight yet he weren’t alone. Bogusz is clearly not a CDM. #lufc

What I’ve taken from that
-Think Kikos time at Leeds is done
-Think Douglas and Alioski must be close too
-A loan move for Roberts wouldn’t be a bad thing
– No one at all is knocking on the first teams door
– A new GK , CAM & Wide Player still needed #LUFC

Kiko was probably our best player tonight funilly enough. Our lack of quality outside our starting 11 showed. Douglas shouldn’t be anywhere near the first team he’s terrible. Alioski was poor, Roberts is a weakling, poveda nowhere near the first team yet, same for others. #lufc

Don’t care about result but the performance of some of the team was atrocious those slating Cassila he was #LUFC best player & 1 of a handful who could hold his head up Poveda busy but lightweight Rodrigo zero service Tyro & Alioski Douglas atrocious worst performance under MB

Did Douglas play badly versus Hull City?
YES
NO
Players who should be ashamed of themselves tonight are Tyler and Douglas, should be fighting for 1st team spots but can’t blame the youngsters for thier individual poor performances#lufc

Most prem reserve teams would lose to a well organised, experienced league 1 side. Rodrigo should take no blame, worked hard and had nothing to feed off. Alioski, Roberts and Douglas were awful.

Would of been 4-0 not for casilla tbf but you’re right overall I’d made my mind up.on Douglas last season hes terrible

Judging by these tweets, plenty of the club’s supporters seem to believe that the Scottish left-back was one of the Yorkshire-based club’s worst performers against Hull.
However, it may be fair to say that Douglas, who is valued at £1.8 million (as per Transfermarkt), was one of the Whites’ more creative players versus Hull City, given that he played more key passes than any other Leeds player in this game – and with that in mind, as well as the fact that he did also manage to convert his spot-kick in the penalty shoot-out, we feel that this criticism may be somewhat harsh.
