Many Leeds United supporters have flocked to Twitter in order to react to a post from James Marshment in which he shared the link to an article that claims the club are closing in on Rodrigo de Paul.
The TEAMtalk report relays a claim from Football Insider, which states the Yorkshire-based club have offered the attacking midfielder ‘a lucrative long-term contract’. The Udinese man joined the Serie A club from Valencia back in 2016 in a deal reportedly worth £2.7m (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).
Since signing for Udinese, he’s made 146 appearances, scoring 25 goals and providing 25 assists and is understood to be currently valued at £27m.
Here is how a sample of the Elland Road faithful have responded to the post in which it is claimed the club are edging closer to a deal for the Argentine.
You need a better source than Football Insider. Have you thought about giving @PhilHay_ a call?

Just me that can’t accept this is happening? Just seems far too good to be true

Hope it’s true but will need a more reliable source to convince me!

Leeds being very quiet on this atm is normally a good indicator but I wont get excited until he’s announced, as this lad looks like a proper player. He certainly fits Bielsa’s player type so fingers crossed! #lufc

Are you confident Leeds will land Rodrigo de Paul this summer?
Yes
No
Whilst some supporters were somewhat reluctant to trust the source, others were slightly more excited about the reports linking the 26-year-old with a move to Yorkshire.
Wow I’ll be impressed if we pull this off

De Paul made 34 appearances in Serie A last season, scoring seven goals and providing six assists (via WhoScored.com). The player’s average performance rating in the Italian top flight was an impressive 7.25/10, making him Udinese’s highest-rated performer.
Taking all of that into consideration, if the Whites were to land the Argentina international, we believe it would represent a great piece of business.
