Crystal Palace podcaster Dan Cook has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of the south London club making a transfer move for Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster.

This comes after Cook recently hosted the latest episode of the HLTCO Podcast where he spoke about all the latest news topics concerning Roy Hodgson’s side.

How well do you remember the action from the opening weekend of the Premier League? - 1. Who scored the first goal of the season?

After it was previously reported in an article from The Mirror that the Merseyside club would be open to the idea of selling Brewster on a permanent basis with a buyback option included, this is what Cook had to say on the potential move for the striker.

He said: “I personally would far rather there be a deal in place that doesn’t involve a buyback.

“However, I have said on previous occasions that depending on the size of the buyback clause, it could represent good business for us in the short to medium term.

“If we were to spend £20 million on Brewster and insert a £45 million buyback clause, worst-case scenario if he gets sold to Liverpool, you’re making a £25 million profit on somebody that isn’t necessarily a bona fide, guaranteed success at Premier League level.”

Brewster made his senior debut for Liverpool back in September 2019 in the Reds’ 2-0 win over MK Dons in the Carabao Cup.

Overall, the 20-year-old has only made four senior appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side and has yet to register a goal or assist for the club.

However, in his loan spell at Swansea City last season, Brewster, who is currently valued at £4.86 million, managed to score an impressive total of 11 goals in 22 appearances for the Championship side.

TIF Thoughts…

Although he’s not really had the opportunity to prove himself at Liverpool just yet, Brewster showed during his time at Swansea that he has what it takes to be a goalscoring threat.

With the current summer transfer window set to close next week, it’ll be interesting to see whether Palace will be able to work out a deal for Brewster and whether or not it will be a temporary or permanent one with a buyback clause.
