Aston Villa journalist Gregg Evans has revealed what the Birmingham club’s transfer plans are for the remainder of the current summer window.

This comes after Evans recently made an appearance on The Athletic’s Villa-themed podcast 1874 where he spoke about the latest news topics surrounding Dean Smith’s side at the moment.

In this 2019/20 season quiz, do you remember who scored Villa's first PL goal of the season?

After Villa recently announced the signing of Ollie Watkins from Brentford, Evans revealed what signings the club will be looking to complete before the end of the window.

He said: “Villa certainly want to get another attacker in, whether that’ll be an out-and-out striker or a traditional winger, we’ll wait and see. I suppose it really depends on the market and the targets that they’ve got in mind and who they can get over the line.”

Do you think Villa need to sign anymore attacking players this summer?

As well as Watkins, Villa have also brought in right-back Matty Cash from Nottingham Forest this summer to boost their defence.

TIF Thoughts…

It’s great to see that Villa have made improvements to their defence and attack with the signings of Cash and Watkins. This shows that they are serious about improving their squad for the upcoming 2020/21 season.

Considering how Villa only managed to narrowly avoid being relegated back to the Championship at the end of the 2019/20 season, after a 1-1 draw against West Ham United on the final day of the season resulted in them finishing in 17th place on 35 points – demonstrating the need for improvements to be made to their squad.

From what Evans had to say in the podcast, it seems that Villa are on the hunt again for an extra attacking option for their squad before the current transfer window slams shut in October, which should be an exciting prospect for the Villa fans.
