Many Celtic fans have flocked to the latest tweet that journalist Raman Bhardwaj recently posted on social media.
Bhardwaj recently provided an update about Celtic’s chase of Ivan Toney, revealing that Brentford are ‘close to agreeing’ a fee with Peterborough United to sign the striker. He also confirmed that the Hoops had an offer of £5m rejected by the Posh more than a week ago.
The tweet from the journalist caught the attention of many Celtic fans, who flocked to the update and made their opinions known about Toney.
If Brentford are the height of his ambition they can have him

If Brentford is his choice then we better off without him.

A couple of these Celtic fans feel that if Toney wants to join Brentford ahead of the Hoops, it is better for Celtic to not sign him. Some more Hoops fans had a negative take about this news update.
The mighty Brentford, eh? Hope he wins plenty of medals.

Do Brentford even have a football team ?
— jamrol77 (@rollybhoy771) August 3, 2020
The comments of these two Celtic fans seem to suggest that they don’t believe Brentford are a bigger club than Celtic. The London side will face Fulham in the Championship play-off final on Tuesday and a win will take them to the Premier League.
Some other fans were left worried by this update.
worrying ……does this mean we are preparing to let Eddy go? hope not. fear so. https://t.co/oNC0gbeD2C

Toney had impressed for Peterborough in the 2019/20 League One season, playing 32 games and scoring 24 goals. In all competitions, he played 39 games and found the net on 26 occasions and racked up seven assists as well (as per Transfermarkt).
Celtic’s Vakoun Bayo has been linked with a Parkhead exit and if he leaves, the Hoops might need to bring a striker in to replace him. Toney’s numbers are impressive and in that sense, missing out on the striker will be a blow to the Bhoys.
