Many Celtic fans have been talking about some recent comments from Neil Lennon about Ryan Christie that caught their attention on social media.
Lennon was recently talking about Christie and he hailed the Scotsman as a ‘top-quality player’. The Celtic boss believes that irrespective of whether Christie is playing as a number eight, number ten or out wide, the midfielder ‘delivers with a lot of energy and a lot of quality’.
These comments from the Hoops boss were relayed on Twitter by the official Celtic Twitter account. The tweet caught the attention of many Celtic fans, who flocked to it and made their opinion about Christie and Lennon’s comments very clear. Some feel that Lennon shouldn’t play Christie in a wide position.
Christie is a waste of a jersey out wide. If Forrest needs to come out Frimpong or Dembele needs to start wide right, we have Hatem for behind them as cover

Does Christie get unfair criticism?
Yes, it is unfair
No, he deserves it
Lies, wasted out wide.
Just buy someone who can play right wing.

Following Wednesday’s loss to Ferencvarosi TC, Christie has made five appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys this season, he has played in the attacking midfield position on four occasions and has played on the right just once. He has already contributed to four goals, scoring twice and assisting twice (as per Transfermarkt).
Some other Celtic fans weren’t happy with Lennon’s comments about Christie’s position on the pitch. One fan urged Lennon to make sure that Christie doesn’t take corners for Celtic.
I suppose if you’re blind then its a valid take Sir Neil.

Christie had impressed for the Bhoys in the 2019/20 season as he scored 19 goals and picked up 16 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions (as per Transfermarkt).
The 25-year-old did play on the right against Dundee United, but he racked up an impressive rating of 8.55 in the game. That shows that while he didn’t score a goal on the day, he did impress a lot and he could do a job in that position in the future. So Celtic fans should be patient and see how Christie performs in that position in the future.
