To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

The Shields Gazette reporter spent quite a bit of time on takeover reports, and one of the topics that came up was Matt Slater’s recent article on a group that includes Richard Scudamore and Billy Beane, and their interest in buying a Premier League club.

The article made one mention of Newcastle, but that was just a suggestion from an unnamed source on what club the RedBall Acquisition Corp could buy.

It seems that Kennedy thinks it is an interesting project but that there is no suggestion that this group will be looking to buy the Toon.

He said: “I read Matt Slater’s article, and it is an interesting prospect to think that project would come to the Premier League; it seems like Newcastle United would fit into that model, there’s a few clubs you could probably buy that would fit into that model.

“Although there were veiled mentions of Newcastle United, there’s no suggestion that it definitely is Newcastle United that they would look to buy, but it would be an exciting prospect.”

TIF Thoughts…

It is claimed that this group has raised nearly £440m and is looking to raise more, and its main aim is to invest in European football with the Premier League a top target.

One source claims that Newcastle United could be a ‘bargain’ for this group, and maybe Toon fans will just have to hope that the RedBall group see the same potential in the Toon that Amanda Staveley does.

However, Kennedy is right in saying that there is no suggestion that this group want to buy Newcastle, although it could be one to keep an eye on.
