Many Celtic fans have been talking about the possibility of the club signing Leeds United left-back Barry Douglas.
Sky Sports recently reported that Ligue 2 side Amiens have made an offer to sign Boli Bolingoli on loan and their offer also includes an option to buy him permanently next summer. The report also talks of Celtic’s interest in signing Douglas as a potential replacement for Bolingoli.
The report claims that Douglas is ‘high up’ on the Hoops’ shortlist for left-back options this summer. Many Celtic fans took to Twitter to talk about this rumour and they made their opinions very clear. Many of them would like Douglas at Parkhead.
Barry Douglas being mentioned as a replacement. Would certainly take him. Could imagine that deal being a loan tbh

Do you think Douglas will be a good replacement for Bolingoli?
Absolutely!
Absolutely not!
Speaking with a Leeds supporting colleague reckons he’d be a great addition, while laughing his head off about the quarantine busting incumbent!

Barry Douglas would be a massive improvement on Taylor. Massive. Get him in. https://t.co/eyjUyocRz3

One-cap Scotland international Douglas was born in Glasgow and came through the Livingston youth academy as a youngster. He also had a spell with Dundee United before joining Leeds from Wolves in the summer of 2018 (as per Transfermarkt).
Some other Celtic fans also talked about Douglas and they don’t find the Glaswegian’s injury record too promising.
Sure they are. Guy is injured more than he’s been fit for the past 3 years. No chance that’s happening.

Looks like Lawwell is looking for a like for like replacement of Bolingoli…….someone who is useless and completely unacceptable

He misses too many games for us to gamble on him this season. On the other hand, I’d play Rab Douglas at left back rather than Taylor????

Douglas didn’t face even a single injury issue in the 2019/20 season, but he could only make 15 appearances in the Championship for Leeds. Only six of them were starts. His rating for the campaign stood at a disappointing 6.46.
It is maybe a reflection of the fact that Douglas may not be a good option for the Hoops and it can become a problem if his older injury issues crop up. So Celtic may want to avoid this move.
