Some Celtic fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Hoops news Twitter account @CelticGossip which asked the club’s supporters to share their thoughts on Celtic potentially making a move for Hibernian attacker Martin Boyle.
This post came after former Celtic midfielder Kris Commons wrote an article for the Scottish Daily Mail in which he talked about Boyle – who scored both of his side’s goals in their 2-1 win over Kilmarnock at the weekend – and the possibility that ‘bigger clubs’ than Hibs will make a move for the 27-year-old in the transfer market.
In his article, Commons said: ‘Given that he’s only got a year left to run on his contract, bigger clubs are bound to be looking at him. I know for a fact that Neil Lennon rates him highly and thoroughly enjoyed working with him during their time together at Easter Road.’
Some Celtic fans replied to @CelticGossip’s tweet to share their thoughts on the possibility of their club making a move for the £900k-rated Hibs winger.
Everyone knows that Lenny rates Martin Boyle very highly. Good the media now catching up. But are we interested and could we act once Shved is away? HH pic.twitter.com/zpZUPwzmKr

Some Hoops fans shared that they would like to see Boyle at Parkhead in response to @CelticGossip’s tweet discussing this potential transfer.

Get him signed, pace to burn. Dembele can play behind striker when he plays. We need competition on the wings. Struggle to replace forrest and moi when out.

Would Boyle be a good signing for Celtic?
YES
NO
Think He would be a quality signing he has pace and knows where the net is

Worth a punt for 250k. But doubt he’ll be anymore than a squad player.

Another Agathe! sign him

Would have been as well keeping Hayes if the alternative is Boyle. Boyle is a good player but not a stepped improvement – a left footed winger with craft and flair, not just pace, is really needed. Rather we paid money for Roberts, or similar type.

Only Lewis Stevenson made more appearances for Hibs than Boyle did during Lennon’s time at the club. Additionally, Boyle made the most assists and scored the second-highest number of goals of any Hibs player during Lennon’s tenure at Easter Road.
With that in mind, it may be understandable why the Celtic boss would rate Boyle highly from their time working together at the Edinburgh club and it mightn’t be too surprising if he does indeed have his eye on his former player ahead of a potential future transfer.
