Many Celtic fans have been discussing the latest update involving Steven Fletcher that recently emerged on social media.
The Daily Record recently reported that Fletcher is now ‘set’ for a move to Parkhead. The report said that while the Hoops have offered him a one-year deal, the striker wants a longer contract. The report states that Fletcher is currently targeting a move north of the border.
A tweet about this news update was relayed on Twitter by the Daily Record themselves. It caught the attention of many Celtic fans and they made their opinion very clear.
Happily take as 4th striker and send Bayo out on loan! Different option than what we’ve got??

Do you think Fletcher will be a good signing for Celtic?
Yes, surely
No, it won't be good
He’ll be 4th Choice replacing Bayo, low wages, relatively risk free.

He is coming in as an experienced 4th choice striker.
Not really much to fuss over. We still have Eddy who is by far the best in the country.

While these Celtic fans seemed satisfied about the move for the Scotsman, some others had criticism for it. They made their opinions very clear on social media.
If that’s the level of our ambition it’s disappointment

From £10m Toney to a washed out free agent not good enough for Scotland national team that’s where our money has went

We need defenders, defenders and a LB. That’s where we can obtain the 10 and progress further in Europe. Not this target man, lump up the field Andy Carroll style. That kind of football is so 20 years ago.
Why oh why do we do this to ourselves. #10AIR https://t.co/NvEHQLZ25B

There seems to be a mixed reaction about this update. One Celtic fan believes that the Hoops don’t need a ‘target man’ like Fletcher and they should focus on strengthening in some other positions.
It is important to keep in mind that Vakoun Bayo is being linked with a move away from Parkhead, with Premiership side St. Mirren are looking to sign him on loan. He wasn’t a regular for Celtic in the 2019/20 season, making only eight Premiership appearances.
If he were to leave, Celtic may then need to replace Bayo, and with Fletcher being free agent, as he has already left Sheffield Wednesday – where he scored 13 goals in the 2019/20 season – he could be considered a low-risk signing who can chip in with some goals and add good depth to the side.
As such, a move for the Scotsman could make sense for Celtic.
