Many Celtic fans have been discussing the latest news update involving Shane Duffy that recently emerged on social media.

The Athletic recently reported about Duffy, saying that Celtic, West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion are all interested in the Republic of Ireland defender.

The article goes on to claim that Celtic are currently his ‘preferred choice’ for a transfer but their recent Champions League defeat to Ferencvaros comes as a ‘setback’ in that regard. The piece claims that Brighton are ‘keen’ to help Duffy right now.

This update was relayed on Twitter by CelticBible recently. It caught the attention of many Celtic fans, who made their opinion clear about this news and they seemed pretty negative about it.

It has previously been reported that Duffy is a Celtic fan and he is ‘keen’ on a Parkhead switch as well.

Brighton have made it clear that they want a loan fee of £2million to let the defender leave the club on a temporary basis.

He has already talked to Neil Lennon about the idea of joining Celtic on a one-year loan deal.

Some other Celtic fans also made their negative opinion about this news very clear.

Clearly, some Celtic fans feel that the Hoops should have completed this deal earlier and this news comes a bit late. Others don’t feel confident that the club will sign Duffy this summer.

A source close to the deal has told the Daily Record that Duffy is a Celtic fan and if he moves to Parkhead, it would be a ‘romantic’ decision from him.

The source also said that it will be ‘very difficult’ for the Bhoys to sign him because of the wages that the Premier League clubs can offer.

So, clearly, one can see why Celtic fans aren’t confident about this move. Perhaps it is best to wait and watch how this saga unfolds.
