The former Liverpool and England midfielder will hope to lead Rangers to their first Scottish top-flight title since the 2010/11 campaign this season and during this recent edition of the Gersnet podcast, Bennett shared that he doesn’t believe that Gerrard has got much chance of remaining at Ibrox if he and his Rangers side fail to win the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Bennett said: “I think if he doesn’t win the league this year, it’s going to be very, very difficult to see a world in which he stays on. If he doesn’t win the league this year, but he was within five points and he delivers the Scottish Cup – it might just be enough to save him, but if he doesn’t win the league, he’s going to have to do a hell of a lot to convince folk that he is the right man.”

TIF Thoughts…

If Rangers fail to win the Scottish Premiership this year, then it will be more than 10 years since the Gers were last crowned the champions of Scotland’s top-flight heading into the 2021/22 campaign.

With that in mind, it may be understandable why there may be some added pressure on Gerrard to get the job done this year and in addition to that, considering that the 2020/21 campaign is his third season in charge of the Gers, it may also be understandable why more Rangers fans may begin to lose faith in Gerrard if he fails to win the league this season than in previous seasons.
