Ross Bennett, David Wren and Alec Anderson discussed all things Rangers on the latest edition of the Gersnet podcast and one of the topics that the panel touched on during the show was Borna Barisic and his future.

Barisic has been linked with a move to Napoli, Roma and Leeds United this summer, however, the left-back recently addressed the speculation over his future, saying: “I don’t want to talk about transfers or things like that. The most important thing is where I am now and that is Rangers. We know how big this season is for us. I don’t want to think about transfers because when you think about things like that and read about that, it is normal that you then lose your focus.”

Rangers fan? We bet you can't get 100% on our Rangers shirt quiz. We'll start you off with an easy one... From which season is this Rangers shirt?

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a positive start to the 2020/21 campaign with Gers, earning a stellar 7.57 overall rating from his four Premiership appearances for the Glasgow-based club this season. He has scored one goal and provided one assist in the league during the 2020/21 campaign thus far.

Rangers were held to a 0-0 draw by Livingston last Sunday and Barisic took one of Gers’ three shots on target during that game.

During this recent edition of the Gersnet podcast which followed that fixture, Bennett asked Wren: “Do you have any concerns that it’s going to be tough for us to keep hold of Borna Barisic?”

The journalist replied to that question by saying: “[It] depends on a lot of factors but if you trust what he says, he won’t be leaving, I would hope he [doesn’t].

“Fair enough, he’s not won the league up here, he’s not won any silverware, but I think he’s shown that he’s a great player and that sort of set-piece speciality isn’t something that comes around all that often, so he’s got that as well.

“If it comes to a point where there are bids, I’d like to think they’ll be substantial.”

Do you think that Borna Barisic will leave Gers in the current transfer window?

So, judging by his comments it’s clear that Wren values Barisic highly and he believes that if the Croatian does leave Ibrox this summer, he will command a “substantial” transfer fee and it may be understandable why the journalist feels that way when you consider that Barisic has been one of Rangers’ best performers so far this season.
