Andy McGowan and David Edgar discussed all things Rangers on the most recent edition of the Heart and Hand podcast and the pair spent some time talking about Ryan Kent during the show.

Kent scored Rangers’ only goal in their 1-0 Scottish Premiership win over Aberdeen last Saturday and during this recent edition of the Heart and Hand podcast, McGowan talked about the expectation that rests on the 23-year-old winger’s shoulders after he moved to the Glasgow-based club from Liverpool for a £6.48m transfer fee last September.

Here is what McGowan had to say about Kent and what is expected of him at Ibrox: “We’ve paid a hell of a lot of money by our standards for him. He has the ability to do it. He’s well bedded into the Rangers team and the Scottish game now, he’s been here for two seasons nearly, and there’s a huge, huge expectation on him because he should be getting 10-15 goals a season quite easily.

“I’m not talking about goals at the end of a 3 or 4 to nothing win, I’m talking about key goals: point winners, match winners – he is your match-winner.”

Do you expect Kent to score 15 goals this season?

TIF Thoughts…

After spending the 2018/19 season on loan at Rangers, Kent joined the club on a permanent basis last September for £6.48m. This makes him Rangers’ most expensive signing since they signed Barry Ferguson from Blackburn Rovers for £6.53m back in January 2005, so with that in mind, it may be understandable why, as McGowan explained, there is plenty of expectation on the 23-year-old to be a “match-winner” for the Gers, as he proved to be against Aberdeen on Saturday.
