On the latest episode of the Keeping the Ball on the Ground podcast, former footballer Kevin Kyle has been discussing the latest goings-on in Scottish football, featuring a discussion of Celtic’s potential signing of Brighton centre-back Shane Duffy.

Neil Lennon’s side have regularly been linked with a move for the Republic of Ireland international in the transfer window thus far, and Kyle seems to think that he would be an excellent addition for the Hoops.

Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

Here’s what he had to say about the 28-year-old on the podcast:

“If Celtic went out and spent £1.5m on Shane Duffy’s wages, with a £2m loan fee and ended up winning 10 in a row, that would be the best £3.5m spent because I think if they shored up that defence, that’s a priority for me.”

TIF Thoughts…

Kyle seems to think that if the Hoops are to secure 10 Premier League titles in a row, then they will require defensive reinforcements, and therefore, bringing in Duffy on loan from Graham Potter’s side this summer would make a lot of sense, especially if fellow centre-back Kristoffer Ajer completes a move away, with the Norwegian international having been linked with a move to AC Milan earlier in the transfer window.

Do you think Celtic will sign Duffy this summer?

Considering Neil Lennon’s side have conceded two goals from three league games so far this season, you could argue that Kyle’s point makes sense and that signing someone of Duffy’s experience could be an excellent way to shore up their defence and give them the best chance of securing a historic title win.
