On the latest episode of the Celtic Underground podcast, Antony Murray featured as a guest to review Celtic’s 2-1 loss against Ferencvaros in the Champions League.

Neil Lennon’s side suffered their earliest exit from the Champions League in 15 years as the Hungarian side snatched a 2-1 win at Celtic Park earlier this week (per BBC). Following the defeat, those on the podcast were quick to question whether or not Lennon should be sacked following the shock result.

Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

Here’s what Murray had to say about the Northern Irish manager on the podcast when asked if he thought he should be sacked:

“Yes, if he hasn’t done the honourable thing and resigned, he should be gone by the time this podcast drops. Yeah, [he’s a] goner. Bye-bye. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. An absolute disaster.”

TIF Thoughts…

Murray has clearly had enough of Lennon and feels that he should resign, rather than be sacked. As the podcast has obviously now dropped and Lennon is, at the time of writing, still in the Celtic job, then Murray clearly hasn’t got his wish. It is, no doubt, hugely disappointing for all Celtic fans that the Hoops have been knocked out of the Champions League this early but the focus must now be on trying to secure a historic tenth league title win in a row.

Should Lennon resign?

No

However, without any Champions League football on offer, perhaps we will see some of Lennon’s key men depart between now and the end of the transfer window, which would no doubt make the 49-year-old’s job a lot harder should he remain at the club following the shock defeat to Ferencvaros.
