Pundit Kevin Graham has recently made a claim about Celtic’s potential chase of Oliver Burke.

Graham was a guest on the latest episode of ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and he talked about many issues surrounding the Parkhead club. One thing that he was asked about was Burke and if Celtic should be looking to bring the winger back to Parkhead this summer.

Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

Reports from Turkish outlet Fotomac (via The Celtic Star) recently linked the Hoops with a move for Burke. It was stated that the Bhoys aren’t the only club interested, as Turkish side Trabzonspor are also looking to sign the Scotsman this summer. The 23-year-old is currently valued at £4.32m by Transfermarkt.

Graham talked about Burke and he said that he will be ‘very surprised’ if the Hoops do end up signing the winger this summer. He also raised concerns about Burke’s current wage.

The pundit said: “Oli Burke has been at Celtic before and apart from a decent start, he didn’t really set the heather on fire.

Should Celtic sign Burke?

Yes, we should get him

“We all know what Oli Burke’s faults are, what he lacks but also what he can contribute. And I would be very surprised if Neil Lennon did actually want to bring him back after basically not playing him in the run-in. I’d be extremely surprised if that was the case, because Burke would be on quite a big wage.”

TIF Thoughts…

Burke had spent the second half of the 2018/19 season on loan at Parkhead from West Bromwich Albion. He left Celtic in the summer of 2019 and was loaned out to Spanish side Alaves for the 2019/20 season (as per Transfermarkt).

During his time at Celtic, Burke scored four goals in 11 Premiership games, but the Scotsman struggled to impress at Alaves and directly contributed to only three goals in as many as 31 La Liga appearances (as per Transfermarkt).

His record at Alaves clearly isn’t a promising one and because of that, it is easy to see why Graham has doubts about the player.
