Podcaster Hamish Carton has given his verdict on the performance of Olivier Ntcham in Celtic’s 1-0 win over Dundee United on Saturday.

Carton hosted the latest episode of ‘The Grand Auld Podcast’ during which many issues surrounding the Parkhead club were discussed. They spent some time talking about the club’s 1-0 win over Dundee United at Tannadice Park on Saturday.

Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

Ntcham, who is currently valued at £3.6m according to Transfermarkt, started the game on Saturday and played in the attacking midfield position. Ryan Christie started on the right and Mohamed Elyounoussi started the game on the left-wing. Albian Ajeti’s late goal helped the Hoops win the game (as per WhoScored).

While discussing the game, Carton talked about Ntcham and had some criticism for the midfielder’s performance.

He said: “I was slightly disappointed in Olivier Ntcham. Just the fact there’s this massive clamour from the Celtic support – me and you are probably at the front of the queue in terms of battering down Neil Lennon’s door and wanting to see Ntcham getting more game time. I just didn’t think he massively took his opportunity yesterday and I was a little bit disappointed in that.”

Does Ntcham deserve a starting spot at Celtic?

TIF Thoughts…

This was Ntcham’s first start in all competitions in the current campaign. He had come off the bench in all three of Celtic’s games this season prior to Saturday’s clash with Dundee United (as per Transfermarkt).

The midfielder picked up a rather average WhoScored rating of 6.66 against Dundee United and that was the fourth-worst rating out of all Celtic players to have featured in the game (as per WhoScored).

He took just a single shot at goal, completed one dribble and played a single key pass last Saturday, according to WhoScored. This shows why Ntcham’s performance on Saturday was a disappointing one and he will have to improve soon if he wants to start more games in the future.
