During a recent edition of PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show, Tam McManus has been discussing Celtic and the formation that best suits Neil Lennon’s side.

The Hoops beat Dundee United in the Premiership last weekend thanks to a goal from their recent signing Albian Ajeti. The Swiss international joined the club in a deal reportedly worth £4.95m from West Ham United earlier this month (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk) and his Celtic career got off to the perfect start at Tannadice Park.

Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

The host of the show, Peter Martin, made it clear that in his view, Celtic are a more potent force with a front two and McManus agreed, here is what he had to say:

“If I were the Celtic manager, I’d try and get the two up front all the time. I think three at the back suits Celtic as well. They’ve got two wing-backs, [Greg] Taylor on one side and [Jeremie] Frimpong on the other side who can bomb forward and both of them are very good attacking-wise. It gives you a solid three in the middle of the park as well.”

TIF Thoughts…

Ajeti came on during the game at Dundee United to replace Greg Taylor as Lennon made a tactical substitution and the striker combined with Odsonne Edouard to score the decisive goal (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

McManus also mentioned the attacking capabilities of Taylor who has already managed two assists in three appearances this season (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk) as well as that of Jeremie Frimpong who scored on the opening day of the season against Hamilton Academical.

It is still early days in terms of the partnership between Ajeti and Edouard but the fact they combined to good effect at the first time of asking can certainly be seen as a good sign by the supporters and you can understand why McManus thinks the club should look to play two strikers more often.
