The Athletic’s Tim Spiers has aired an update regarding a temporary stand that Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking to build at Molineux.

As revealed by Spiers in an article for The Athletic in January, the Old Gold were ‘considering’ filling the gap in the corner between the South Bank and the Steve Bull Stand with temporary seats.

The eventual plan is to turn Molineux into a 50,000-seater stadium, but that plan is ‘on hold’ for now.

In the latest episode of The Athletic’s The Molineux View podcast, Spiers discussed the latest on the proposed plans regarding the temporary seats.

To kick-off this quiz on Nuno Espirito Santo on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at Molineux against?

He said: “We’ve mentioned this a couple of times in the past few months about looking to build a temporary stand at the corner of Molineux.

“So, I’ve had a couple of questions about what’s happening with that. I mean, they’re nowhere near getting fans back in the ground, let alone a capacity stadium so there’s no need for that temporary stand to be built.

“However, they do have planning permission. Because of its location, as in it’s right in the corner sort of out of the way, they can really build it any time.

“So, I think that’s one that they’ll look to construct once we know when there’s going to be capacity crowds back in again but that will happen as and when.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Spiers had to say, he clearly believes that Wolves will install the temporary seating when they know they are able to have capacity crowds.

Should Wolves build the temporary stand now?

With there being no timescale as of yet on when capacity crowds will be allowed back at football matches (via The Times), the temporary seating certainly seems like one for Wolves to put on the back burner.
