Liverpool journalist Ben Kelly has suggested that the Reds should send Rhian Brewster on loan to Newcastle United for next season.

This comes as Kelly recently made an appearance on The Redmen TV Podcast to talk through a range of topics concerning the Merseyside club.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

On the subject of Brewster, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Championship side Swansea City, Kelly shared his thoughts on what the best next move could be for the striker.

He said: “I think he would be a great fit for Newcastle. I think that the forwards they’ve got at the moment are absolutely garbage. I think he would get so much time there. I think he’s better than Joelinton. I think [Miguel] Almiron is a little bit better than Joelinton, but still not as good as Brewster, and suddenly for them, from their perspective, you’ve got somebody as quick as Brewster, you’ve got [Jonjo] Shelvey sitting deep to play those balls, I think he would fit right in there.

“If I was going to send him anywhere, I think that would be a good shout for him, because they’ve just got no decent recognised strikers.”

During his time at Swansea, Brewster managed to score 11 goals in 22 appearances for the Welsh side, which is more goals than Almiron, Joelinton, Dwight Gayle and Andy Carroll managed to score in the Premier League combined throughout the entirety of the 2019/20 campaign.

TIF Thoughts…

Brewster, who is valued at £4.86 million (as per Transfermarkt), certainly showed the talent and abilities he has as a goalscorer last season on loan at Swansea. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool give him the opportunity to show those talents at the Merseyside club next season or decide the 20-year-old would be better off going out on loan again at a different club.

If Newcastle do decide that they need to bring in someone this summer that can provide an attacking threat going forward, they could well be looking at Brewster as that potential threat given his form last term.
