The Athletic’s Tim Spiers has made a transfer claim regarding Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Mexican striker Raul Jimenez.

Over the 2019/20 season, the forward was in stellar form for the Old Gold, having bagged 17 goals and six assists over 38 Premier League appearances (per WhoScored).

Jimenez’s impressive form has left him with various suitors as clubs such as Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester City and Juventus have all been touted, and were discussed by the player himself in an interview with Bolavip in June (via Tuttosport).

So, in the latest episode of The Athletic’s The Molineux View podcast, Spiers mentioned Jimenez when discussing if star players will leave Molineux this summer.

To kick-off this quiz on Nuno Espirito Santo on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at Molineux against?

He said: “A lot of them sacrificed Champions League football for the Championship and they [bought] into this project.

“They left Benfica and Atletico Madrid and Porto to join an unfashionable club in the West Midlands who are building a long-term project to get into the Champions League.

“Nobody’s expected it to happen yet. So, they believe in this, they believe in Nuno [Espirito Santo], they believe in each other, and Nuno’s spoken a lot about the bonds that they’ve forged in the last few weeks.

“My point is, they’re not going to be banging on Nuno’s door saying, ‘Get me out of this club’ – they’re not. I’m not saying no one’s going to leave.

“And if a big offer comes in for Jimenez, he’s 29, there’s a decision to be made there, and it may be a sensible one to sell him for massive money; [Adama] Traore as well.”

TIF Thoughts…

So, seemingly Spiers believes that if one of the big-name clubs that have been linked with Jimenez offer ‘massive money’ for the striker, then it may be ‘sensible’ to sell him.

If an offer of "massive money" arrived for Raul Jimenez this summer, would you want it accepted?

No, we have to keep him

No, we have to keep him

Yes, it would be sensible

Yes, it would be sensible

However, with the Mexican having been Wolves’ second-best player in the Premier League with a 7.25/10 average rating in the most recent season (per WhoScored), he would certainly be difficult to replace if he did leave Molineux.
