@ExWHUemployee, also known as ‘Ex’, has been speaking about West Ham United’s current stance in the summer transfer window and how it led to them missing out on signing Eberechi Eze.

This comes after Ex recently appeared on the latest episode of The West Ham Way Podcast where he spoke about a range of topics concerning the London club.

To kick-off this quiz on David Moyes on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at the London Stadium against?

On the subject of West Ham’s summer window and their failed chase of reported transfer target Eze, who recently signed for fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace, this is what Ex had to say on the matter.

He said: “We’re still in the same predicament where we need to try and sell players before we can bring anyone in, so we’re starting to lose out on targets that we had originally. I said how much we wanted to sign Eze but we wanted to move players on, we’re just not moving on enough players.”

Palace recently announced the signing of Eze from Queens Park Rangers on a five-year deal for a reported fee of £19.5 million, snatching him out of West Ham’s grasp.

The only incoming transfer West Ham have made this summer saw the club sign midfielder Tomas Soucek on a permanent basis for a fee of £14.58 million after he originally joined the London club on a loan deal from Slavia Prague back in the previous January transfer window.

TIF Thoughts…

According to what Ex said on the podcast, it appears that the only way West Ham will sign new players this summer is if they manage to sell some players first, which makes them run the risk of missing out on signing their reported transfer targets, such as Eze.
