Speaking recently on The West Ham Way Podcast, @ExWHUemployee stated the details of the transfer of now-former West Ham striker Albian Ajeti to Celtic.

Arriving at West Ham from FC Basel in what was a £7.83 million deal last summer, Ajeti went on to make just nine Premier League appearances for the club last season, all of which were from the bench, scoring no goals and registering no assists.

To kick-off this quiz on David Moyes on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at the London Stadium against?

This is likely to have disappointed the club, as, in the season previous, the Switzerland international had been in fine form, scoring 21 goals and providing 11 assists over his 43 appearances in all competitions for FC Basel.

However, it looks as if this past form was enough to convince Celtic that he was the player they needed, as the striker completed a move to Glasgow earlier this week.

And, speaking on The West Ham Way Podcast, @ExWHUemployee revealed the exact figures involved in the 23-year-old’s move from the London Stadium to Parkhead.

He said: “Ajeti has gone to Celtic. Again, the papers have been saying he’s had a medical for the last two weeks, and I was breaking that down and saying that’s wrong. He did fly into Glasgow today. He is going to complete the move, it’s a £4.5 million down payment with a 15% sell-on clause if [they] sell him. Also, [there are] bonuses within that deal, which could take it up to £5-6 million, depending on whether he meets those bonuses.”

TIF Thoughts…

As such, it appears that Ajeti’s move to Celtic had resulted in West Ham pocketing £4.5 million upfront, with the deal potentially rising another million or so depending on how well the striker performs for the Hoops.

Considering the fact that the Hammers paid almost £8 million for the 23-year-old last summer, it would seem that they have managed to get back a decent amount of money for the player, which, in our opinion, the club should be praised for, especially after the season he had in east London.

Having said that, it could also be argued that the club simply shouldn’t have gone for Ajeti in the first place, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
