On the latest episode of the TIFO Football Podcast, Joe Devine, Alex Stewart and Seb Stafford-Bloor have been discussing some ‘sensible transfers’ that could occur, with West Ham United moving for Schalke defender Ozan Kabak being one of the suggestions.

Considering the London Stadium outfit were able to keep just seven clean sheets across the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, it is perhaps no surprise to hear them tipping David Moyes to add a centre-back to his ranks in the summer transfer window.

To kick-off this quiz on David Moyes on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at the London Stadium against?

Here’s what Stafford-Bloor had to say about Kabak, and why he feels he could be a good signing for the Hammers this summer:

“The basis for this is Angelo Ogbonna is now 32 years old, I really like Issa Diop but I’m looking for a long-term partner for him. I’ve got two younger players; the first is Schalke’s Ozan Kabak. Who wouldn’t want to leave Schalke at the moment? So presumably that would be a fairly easy transfer.

“I’m not really looking at footballers here, I’m looking at defenders first. I want someone with good one-on-one tackling, good in the air, physical. I want a more secure base and also, I’m trying to find players who I think will suit David Moyes a little bit more.”

TIF Thoughts…

It is understandable why Stewart feels Kabak may want to leave Schalke this summer, considering their reported financial woes, as well as their recent disappointing season in the Bundesliga with them struggling to a 12th-placed finish. The Turkish defender is currently valued at £26.1 million, however, suggesting that it could be a fairly expensive option for the Hammers this summer.

It will be interesting to see if the 20-year-old does leave Schalke this summer, and whether or not West Ham do register an official interest.
