Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a tweet from Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold, in which he shares a recent interview from former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The journalist shared a link to an article featuring some quotes from the Argentinian’s interview with El Pais, where he speaks about his time working at the north London club and their decision to sack him last November.
When asked about his time with the Lilywhites and how it ended, the 48-year-old responded:
“We live in a results environment where it seems that all the things that have a good result are the ones that serve, but how do you measure what works or not?
“Only the one who wins or the one who exceeds expectations? After the Champions League final, four years in the top four, two years without signing [new players], a different management strategy was needed.
“Sometimes the vision of a coaching staff is not accepted by the club management. We anticipate what could happen. You need to fall, be down and then go up, but Tottenham made the decision to separate us after five and a half years. I understand that it is a long time.”
Who was to blame for Spurs' dreadful start to the 2019/20 season?
The Tottenham board
Pochettino
Reaction from Spurs fans to Pochettino’s quotes can be seen in the tweets below.
The only mistake Poch made was to have a vision difference from Levy. Levy’s the problem not Poch. Levy out.

If Levy strives for better then why do our managers always have to settle for 2nd best in the way of players. To dare is too dear

I will never forgive Levy for this. Even if Jose succeeds at Tottenham. Poch could have been another Sir Alex Ferguson(or better). Discuss a vision, back the manager, and give him time. He could have been here for another 5+ years and given us serious title shots. https://t.co/07LppWhKgg

Plenty of Spurs fans aimed criticism at the board after reading Pochettino’s comments.
Levy and enic are killing this club.

Poch made many many mistakes that cost his job but the biggest problem is Levy and ENIC. We have to force them out. Boycott everything https://t.co/a3G2Rcw5HL

The state of our chairman fans should be boycotting and protesting

Big mistake by Spurs not to back Poch in the transfer window two seasons ago. All top teams keep refreshing and now we are back 5 years to start again

His vision meant the club would need to spend more than £26.50 in the transfer market, the board were never going to be happy with such demands!

As can be seen by the above tweets, a lot of Lilywhites supporters seem to blame the Tottenham board, rather than Pochettino, for the poor form that saw the former Southampton boss sacked last year.
