On the latest episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Jamie Brown and Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas have been discussing the summer transfer window and some of the deals that the north London club could do ahead of next season.

One topic of discussion on the recent episode, which was titled ‘Summer Transfer Window (Ft. Lyall Thomas)‘, was Norwich City right-back Max Aarons. Spurs have regularly been linked with the 20-year-old in recent months, but despite Norwich’s relegation from the Premier League last season, it seems as if Thomas believes that a Spurs move for the youngster is unlikely.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what he had to say about Spurs’ chances of signing Aarons on the podcast:

“Max Aarons, I think, is probably a bit more historic interest now. I think he was more of the profile that [Mauricio] Pochettino would have wanted. I don’t think he’s the kind of player that [Jose] Mourinho wants. He’d like somebody a bit more powerful, physically bigger, stronger than Aarons. So I wouldn’t expect that one to be done, either. Obviously, Aarons has been part of a relegated team. He’s a good player, [a] good prospect but I don’t think he would be first-choice for Tottenham right now.”

TIF Thoughts…

From what Thomas says, it seems as if a Spurs move for Aarons may no longer be on the cards this summer. When you consider that the 20-year-old struggled in his first season in the Premier League with Norwich; averaging a disappointing 6.55 rating across the 2019/20 campaign (per WhoScored), you can perhaps understand why Thomas feels that he wouldn’t be first-choice for Spurs.

Are you disappointed that Spurs are seemingly no longer interested in Aarons?

With Serge Aurier being heavily linked with a move to AC Milan, you would perhaps imagine that Spurs would want someone more experienced than Aarons to replace him, should the former PSG man depart this summer.
