Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have flocked to a tweet from @HotspurRelated in which they relayed a report from Tuttosport (via MilanNews) which claims AC Milan are stunned by the asking price set for Serge Aurier.
The report claims that the Rossoneri are in the market for a right-back this summer but that the Italian giants believe Spurs’ asking price for the Ivorian ‘is exaggerated’.
Aurier joined the north London club back in the summer of 2017 from the French club Paris Saint-Germain in a deal reportedly worth £22.5m (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).
Since his arrival he has played for the club on 83 occasions, scoring six goals and providing his teammates with 14 assists.
Despite his value according to Transfermarkt.co.uk currently being £14.4m, Spurs are said to be adamant they want to receive €23m (£20.8m) and their stance could mean the Serie A club turn their attentions to PSV Eindhoven’s Denzel Dumfries or Barcelona’s Emerson.
Here is how a sample of the Tottenham faithful have responded to the update.

It’s clear from the above responses that even some of the club’s supporters think the reported asking price is somewhat excessive, however, others backed Spurs’ stance on Aurier.
Do you think Spurs' reported asking price for Aurier is excessive?
Yes
No
Levy giving milan a taste of there own medicine, didnt they put a massive price on piatek last transfer window. They wanted rid but still wanted a huge fee.

So they want to buy a player obviously they must think he is good otherwise why do you want to buy him….so why would we sell him for cheap and in the football world 23m euro isn’t a lot if you want him pay the money…..this ain’t lower division football 2m euro for a player ??

Why? Perfectly fair price in this market

Stunned that we want the same price we paid for him 2 years ago? Were they expecting a 50% reduction or something?

levy working his magic…. knows he probably should only get 13-15 mil for him but now people are saying 23 mil and so they will probably settle somewhere around 17mil giving Levy 2-4 mil over what he’s worth #masternegotiator

As mentioned by the reports, AC Milan appear to have others in their sights should they be unable to agree on a deal that would see Serge Aurier move to the San Siro.
Unless Tottenham lower their asking price, they may need to focus their efforts elsewhere.
