Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to Twitter to respond to a post from @HotspurRelated which relayed a report from The Athletic regarding a number of players the Lilywhites are said to eyeing up this summer.
Charlie Eccleshare named Norwich City’s Max Aarons, Atalanta’s Timothy Castagne and Zeki Celik of Lille as players the club may target as right-back options.
He also went on to add that a deal for Castagne may be ‘the easier deal to get done’ as he has ‘said publicly that he would be interested in a move Spurs’.
Here is how a sample of the Spurs faithful have reacted to the update via the social media platform.
Just because Aarons ended the season poorly doesn’t make him a bad player at the age of 20…
Was brilliant for them in the championship
I’d take aarons and castagne

No complaints there, would prefer Aarons as a back up. He’s a wonderful player I don’t know why people keep saying he’s bad

Max Aaron’s fits the criteria in terms of home grown players especially since KWP has gone

I can’t keep saying it we need to go for Aaron’s he’s already had his year in the prem and as someone who watched him close you can tell in a better team he will be a star and I also think we should go for Jamal Lewis at LB he is such a good player

Would you like to see the club sign Max Aarons this summer?
Yes
No
It’s clear from the above responses that these supporters would prefer to see the club prioritise Max Aarons from the list of players above. The 20-year-old made 36 appearances in the Premier League for Norwich City last season and according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, he is valued at £18m which suggests Spurs would need to spend a significant amount of money in order to land the London-born defender. Some fans though, questioned whether any of the aforementioned names would be an upgrade on Serge Aurier.
Serge Aurier is as good or better than all of these guys, imo.

Are any of those really better than Aurier tho?
— Kevin Ernst (@kvnrnst) August 12, 2020
Aurier has been linked with a move to AC Milan this summer but it appears the Italian giants may turn their attentions elsewhere after it was reported by Tuttosport (via MilanNews) that they believe Spurs’ €23m (£20.8m) valuation is ‘exaggerated’. Whether or not that will impact the Lilywhites’ ability to bring in another full-back during this transfer window remains to be seen.
