Liverpool journalist David Lynch has been talking about the possibility of the Reds selling Divock Origi this summer.

This comes after Lynch made an appearance on The LFC Transfer Room Podcast to chat about a variety of subjects related to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

After being asked if he expects Origi to leave the Merseyside club during the current summer transfer window, Lynch shared his thoughts on the possibility.

He said: “I think if someone came in with a good offer, and he thought it was a really good opportunity to play more regularly, I think he will be tempted, definitely.

“He’s won everything now at Liverpool. His chances of playing regularly next season aren’t going to get any better, let’s be honest, so I think if a decent club came in for him and it looked like a good move to him, I think he would go and obviously Liverpool would have to agree a decent fee for him as well.

“That’s just a question of is that going to happen in this [pandemic] environment in terms of are clubs looking to splash that sort of money on a player of Origi’s profile? I don’t know. I think he could be tempted, it’s definitely not one that I would rule out by any means.”

Liverpool signed the Belgian back in the 2014 summer transfer window from French club Lille for a fee of £11.37 million.

Overall, the forward has made a total of 140 appearances for the Reds across all competitions in which he has scored 34 goals and provided 12 assists.

The 2019/20 season saw Origi, who is currently valued at £14.4 million, make 42 appearances in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s side, in which he only managed to score six goals.

In the Reds’ previous Premier League campaign, Origi’s performances in the 28 league appearances he made for the club earned him a fairly disappointing season rating of 6.42/10 (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

Given Origi’s relatively poor goalscoring record last season, it may be wise for the club to sell the 25-year-old this summer if any other club would be willing to buy the attacker.
