On the latest episode of the View from The Lane podcast for The Athletic, Jack Pitt-Brooke, James Maw and Luke Brown have been discussing Daniel Levy and his time with Tottenham Hotspur.

One topic of conversation on the recent episode, which was titled ‘Daniel Levy Special‘, was the chairman’s best achievements during his time with the north London club. Levy was part of the ENIC takeover back in December 2000 and has been a key part of the way Spurs has been run ever since.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? - Who did Spurs beat in the opening fixture?

However, Pitt-Brooke reserved special praise for the chairman’s work on Spurs’ new stadium, saying:

“I think ultimately, Levy’s number-one success at the club is the stadium. This was a huge project. He completely oversaw it, he was wholly responsible for it. He delivered a brilliant £1.2 billion stadium which will settle Tottenham’s future for the next 50 years, and I’m sure when life gets slowly back to suddenly approaching what it was like in 2019, I think it’ll make Tottenham a lot of money through not just matchdays, but also non-matchdays as well.”

TIF Thoughts…

We can understand Pitt-Brooke’s point about the stadium delivering a lot of money from non-matchday events as if it were not for the current viral outbreak, then this summer would have seen the stadium host a number of events including a Lady Gaga concert and Capital’s Summertime Ball, the majority of which have unfortunately been cancelled or postponed (per Tottenham Hotspur).

Is the stadium Levy's greatest success with Spurs?

Spurs’ new stadium has won a lot of praise since its opening, with it having been named as the Venue of the Year at the Stadium Business Awards. So we can certainly see why Pitt-Brooke feels that it Levy’s number one success and hopefully fans will be able to return to the stadium safely in the not-too-distant future.
