On the latest video for his YouTube channel, Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, reflecting on the 3-0 friendly win against Ipswich Town and sharing his thoughts on some of the transfer business that could still be done by the North London club this summer.

One topic that Gold discussed in the recent video, was Spurs’ reported interest in Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson. The England international has been heavily linked with a move back to the Premier League following the Cherries’ relegation to the Championship, with Spurs one of the teams that have been credited with an interest in the forward.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what the journalist had to say about Spurs’ interest in the 28-year-old during the video: (35:44)

“Callum Wilson at Bournemouth is certainly someone they’re interested in but it’s about getting that price down. There’s been talk of £30 million or so for Wilson, yeah he’s an England international, [he] struggled slightly last season but he played the whole season.”

He later adds: (37:35)

“I’d be surprised if they don’t keep trying to go for Wilson, I think it makes sense on so many levels. He’s only 28, knows the Premier League inside out and I think he’d be willing and happy to come to Tottenham at this stage in his career, it’d be a step up.”

TIF Thoughts…

Considering Spurs were left with very little attacking options last season, following the injury to Harry Kane, it is easy to see why they are seemingly targeting someone like Wilson this summer.

Do you think Spurs will sign Wilson this summer?

If the former Coventry City man can replicate his form from the 2018/19 Premier League season when he contributed 14 goals and nine assists in 30 top-flight appearances, then he would surely prove to be an excellent addition to Jose Mourinho’s side, however, it seems from what Gold says that the Lilywhites will have to negotiate a lower fee with Bournemouth if we are going to see him make the move to North London ahead of next season.
