On the latest video for his YouTube channel, Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, reflecting on the 3-0 friendly win against Ipswich Town and sharing his thoughts on some of the transfer business that could still be done by the North London club this summer.

One topic that Gold discussed on the recent video, was the influence of Ledley King in the win against the Tractor Boys at the weekend, with Gold full of praise for the way the 39-year-old appears to have quickly adapted to his new coaching role at the club. The former England international was recently appointed as a first-team coach for Jose Mourinho’s side and it seems as if he is already making his mark.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what the journalist had to say about the role of King in the 3-0 win against Ipswich last weekend:

“One thing I wanted to start off with because it absolutely made me smile at the stadium [on Saturday], was looking at the warm-up and watching just how involved Ledley King was. There was a part of me that obviously was slightly worried that perhaps the Ledley King appointment was going to be more of a PR move, if you watch that warm-up today, [it’s] anything but.

“This guy is working with the defence and it was brilliant to see. I first noticed it because I saw him talking to [Toby] Alderweireld out on the pitch and my goodness, he was so animated.”

TIF Thoughts…

It certainly seems from what Gold had to say about King that he will prove to be an important member of Mourinho’s coaching team next season.

Do you think King will play a big part in improving Spurs next season?

No

If the former defender, who made 323 appearances for the Lilywhites during his career, can help Spurs to fix their defensive issues, with the north London club managing to keep just eight clean sheets in the Premier League last season, then he will surely prove to be a very shrewd appointment indeed.
