Football.london journalists Alasdair Gold and Rob Guest recently took part in a Facebook live video, in which they discussed the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur and answered questions from fans regarding transfers and the upcoming 2020/21 season.

One topic of discussion on the video was South Korean centre-back and reported Tottenham target Kim Min-jae. Spurs were heavily linked with a move for the 23-year-old earlier in the transfer window although rumours died down somewhat after it was reported that Beijing Guoan would demand £15 million for the man nicknamed ‘monster‘.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what Gold had to say about the possibility of Spurs signing Min-jae during the video:

“Kim Min-jae, the South Korean centre-back, if they can get a decent price with his Beijing club [then] I wouldn’t be stunned if that’s a deal that’s done. I think he ticks boxes, obviously [a] foreign player again so that comes into it, but I do think it’s more like a usual Spurs transfer. It’s a player with a lot of potential, incredible marketing potential as well if you’re going to be cynical about it, he’s a massive star. My journalist colleague Sungmo Lee says he’s the top defensive generational talent coming out of South Korea, so I wouldn’t be shocked with him.”

TIF Thoughts…

Spurs are yet to add a centre-back to their ranks in the summer transfer window, and with Jan Vertonghen having departed on a free transfer, you could certainly argue that the signing of Min-jae would make sense this summer, while he certainly seems to be making a positive impression on the football pitch.

Therefore, Spurs’ interest and Gold’s admission that he wouldn’t be surprised to see a transfer materialise is sure to be a promising sign for those connected to the club – particularly when you consider their defensive woes last term.

Do you want Spurs to sign Min-jae this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

The Lilywhites managed just eight clean sheets in the top-flight last season, so defensive reinforcements perhaps seem likely and Gold has certainly tipped the North London club to reignite their interest, should the two clubs be able to agree on a fee for the 23-year-old.
