On the latest episode of The Extra Inch podcast, Chris Miller, Nathan Clark and Bardi have been discussing some of the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, reflecting on Spurs’ start to pre-season and answering questions regarding tactics and transfers from fans of the show.

One topic of discussion on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘We’re back for a pre-season round-up‘, was QPR midfielder Eberechi Eze. The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Spurs in the past, but Crystal Palace, West Ham, Newcastle United and Fulham all seem to be battling it out for the Englishman’s signature this summer and those on the podcast certainly seem to feel that the Lilywhites will be missing out if they don’t sign him ahead of next season.

The Eagles are thought to be in pole position having recently had a bid accepted by QPR, according to The Telegraph.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Prior to those reports emerging, here’s what Miller to say about the in-demand midfielder on the podcast:

“Fulham are being strongly linked with Eze, we missed the boat with him last season, we should have got him. We’ve been watching him for like three years, I think. We should have just signed him last season and loaned him back, that would have been the logical thing to do. But, alas, he’ll go elsewhere and be brilliant, because he is brilliant.”

TIF Thoughts…

Eze certainly enjoyed a superb campaign with the R’s; contributing 14 goals and eight assists in 46 Championship appearances for Mark Warburton’s side, which saw him average a 7.36 rating (per WhoScored).

Do you agree that Spurs have missed the boat on Eze?

Therefore, it is no surprise to see several Premier League sides interested in bringing him to the top-flight this summer, but Miller clearly feels that Spurs should have acted on their previous interest and signed him up. Considering the former Wycombe Wanderers loanee was rated as the third-best player in the second division last season, we see no reason why he won’t prove to be a success with whichever Premier League side he ends up signing for this summer.
