On the latest episode of The Extra Inch podcast, Chris Miller, Nathan Clark and Bardi have been discussing some of the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, reflecting on Spurs’ start to pre-season and answering questions regarding tactics and transfers from fans of the show.

One topic of discussion on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘We’re back for a pre-season round-up‘, was the performance of Dele Alli in the recent 3-0 friendly win against Ipswich Town. The 24-year-old missed the last few games of the 2019/20 campaign due to a hamstring injury, but did well against the Tractor Boys, providing two assists in the first half (per Tottenham Hotspur).

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what Miller had to say about the former MK Dons man on the podcast:

“I thought Dele played well, he looked really sharp. He was on it, he was very creative with his passing which was nice to see. He seemed to have a bit of zip back.”

TIF Thoughts…

Miller was clearly happy with Alli’s performance against Ipswich, although playing against a League One side in a friendly is perhaps not the best way to judge whether or not he is back to his best.

Do you think Alli can get back to his best in the upcoming season?

No

Since joining from MK Dons in 2015, the England international has made 222 appearances for the North London club; contributing 62 goals and 55 assists (per Transfermarkt), which is impressive when you consider he is just 24 years old, so hopefully his strong performance against Ipswich last weekend is a promising sign of things to come for Lilywhites supporters.
