To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

The Shields Gazette reporter talked about many topics relating to the Toon and dedicated a portion of time to Muto’s time on Tyneside so far, and his future.

Judging by Kennedy’s comments, it looks as if Newcastle want to sell Muto, and in the journalist’s view, he has not done enough in the games he has played for the Toon thus far.

He said: “It just doesn’t look like it’s worked for him in the Premier League.

“From what I’ve seen of him, I’ve seen very little to suggest that he’d be worth any kind of long-term run in the side.

“He’s lightweight, doesn’t really look like he’s got an instinct to score goals.

“That’s two managers [who] haven’t really fancied him, it would be a shock to see him come back from this.

“I know for a fact they’ve been trying to get rid of him.”

Do you think Newcastle should keep Muto?

TIF Thoughts…

Newcastle signed Muto in the summer of 2018 for a reported fee of £9.5m, but the forward has only scored one Premier League goal in two seasons with the Toon.

In the 2019/20 season, the Japanese attacker scored one goal in the League Cup against Leicester City but he only played six minutes for the Toon following English football’s June restart.

A recent report from the Daily Mail has claimed that sources close to Muto believe that the Toon want rid of him and that does tally with what Kennedy said during his recent appearance on NUFC Matters.

It looks as if Muto could leave St. James’ Park this summer, and in Kennedy’s view, he has never done enough to show that he belongs in the Premier League.
