Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest news concerning Toon striker Andy Carroll.
This comes after Newcastle journalist Mark Douglas shared a post on his official Twitter page relaying comments made by Carroll to the club’s media where he revealed that he was never fully fit last season.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans who were quick to share their thoughts on this admission from the Englishman.
Here’s a sample of Newcastle fans responding to the post from Douglas:
Andy Carroll admits he was never "100% fit" last season as he hopes for the benefits of a full pre-season.https://t.co/7QQtB3Qls5

Bloke hasn’t been 100% fit for over a decade.
Don’t expect him to miraculously change this season.
Waste of squad place. #NUFC

Carroll, who is currently valued at £2.88 million, returned to Newcastle on a free transfer from West Ham United in the 2019 summer transfer window.
we arnt good enough as a squad to carry players who arnt 100% or injury probe , giving him a contract extension is bizarre

The 2019/20 Premier League season saw the 31-year-old make just 19 league appearances where he failed to score a goal for the club.
Heard it all before. A waste of a squad number & a waste of time & precious, limited resources..

According to Transfermarkt, Carroll missed 14 games for Newcastle last season due to three different injury issues.
He hasn’t been 100% fit for about 10 years. Next season will be no different

Are you confident Andy Carroll will be able to stay fit for next season?
Yes
No
Now that Douglas has shared this post on his official Twitter page relaying Carroll’s comments on his fitness, this paved the way for lots of Newcastle fans to share their thoughts on the centre-forward and his previous fitness issues.
So is he expecting to be fit next season as he’s certainly not getting a full pre season this time round, it’s around half the length of a normal pre season

He will never be 100% fit

It’s interesting to hear Carroll say that he was never fully fit during Newcastle’s 2019/20 season which could be the reason why he didn’t manage to score any league goals for the club throughout the campaign.
If Carroll can make good use of his time during Newcastle’s pre-season before the 2020/21 season, maybe he will be able to get himself back to full fitness and have a better season for the club than he did last year in terms of scoring goals.
