To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

The article states that Richard Scudamore has been appointed to the board of a new US-based company that intends to invest in European football with the Premier League a top target.

It is claimed that Scudamore is joined by the likes of Billy Beane, who is best known for his ‘Moneyball’ approach to baseball, which is heavily focused on data analytics.

The tweet from NUFC 360 also asks if this is the American group that Henry Winter was talking about when discussing Newcastle at the end of July.

This post has drawn the attention of these Toon fans who appear to be sick of takeover stories.

Do you think this group will try to buy Newcastle?

Yes, we could be what they are looking for

No, they will go for someone else

No, they will go for someone else

The article does mention the Toon, but not as a target and just as a suggestion by an unnamed source.

However, it will be intriguing to see if the RedBall Acquisition Corp see the Toon like Amanda Staveley did, as she referred to Newcastle United as “the last great untapped club“.

It remains to be seen what happens, but these Newcastle fans are at least hopeful that Scudamore would pass the Premier League’s Owners’ and Directors’ test because he is a former executive chairman of the Premier League.

The reason these Toon fans are mentioning that is probably related to the fact that the latest takeover attempt by Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium was ‘still being scrutinised’ by the English top-flight when the group reportedly ended their interest in purchasing the club. The bid was withdrawn rather than rejected.

It is interesting to see that this group wants to invest in a Premier League club and if they see the same potential in it as Staveley, then maybe they will make a move to buy the Toon.
