Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been sharing their thoughts on Toon striker Joelinton.
This comes after Newcastle journalist Chris Waugh shared a post on his official Twitter page about the Brazilian attacker that included an article Waugh wrote for The Athletic on him.
In his post, Waugh said that a new striker is “still desperately needed” at Newcastle this summer after the club signed Jeff Hendrick on a free transfer earlier this week.
Waugh also added that Newcastle need a striker who can “score goals but, preferably, can also bring out the best in Joelinton” before ending his post claiming that the Brazilian is “neither a centre-forward nor a left-winger.”
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans who were quick to share their thoughts on Joelinton.
Here’s a sample of Newcastle fans responding to the post:
Jeff Hendrick has signed for #NUFC but a striker is still desperately needed
One who can score goals but, preferably, can also bring out the best in Joelinton
As @Worville & I examined for @TheAthleticUK, he is neither a centre-forward nor a left-wingerhttps://t.co/xzUZMpSe8x

Newcastle signed the 24-year-old back in the 2019 summer transfer window from German club Hoffenheim for a club-record fee of £39.6 million.
Cut our losses and sell him

Since then, the Brazilian only managed to score four goals in 44 total appearances for Newcastle throughout the 2019/20 season.
Worst of all he’s not even a footballer, Ivan Tomay was better

Why are you still persisting with this falsehood that there is a good player in Joelinton?? He hasn’t shown a single flash of it, ever. Somebody has had our life, or more likely there is corruption at the heart of the £40m deal. You’d be better served going after that story???

Do you think Joelinton will improve next season?
Yes
No
You have to wonder where the goals are going to come from without investment.
Carroll, cannot keep fit.
Muto, poor.
Linton, struggling, lacking confidence.
Gayle, injury prone and not prolific.Doesn’t bode well.

Now that Waugh has shared this post on his official Twitter page, this opened the door for lots of Newcastle fans to share their views on Joelinton and the attacking power their team currently has.
However, there was one Newcastle fan responding to Waugh’s post who was quick to defend Joelinton.
I actually believe there’s a player there somewhere. More firmino than aguero. We need a prolific finisher, Gayle is the best finisher we have imo, and we need better. Joelinton will come good, maybe in a 3 behind a fit again Carroll!? #NUFC

It appears that the majority of these Newcastle fans are not happy with Joelinton. Looking at his poor goalscoring record last season, it’s understandable why these Newcastle fans are not impressed with the attacker at this moment in time.
Hopefully, next season will see Joelinton in better goalscoring form so he can change the minds of these Toon fans.
