To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

On 30th July, Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium announced that it was withdrawing its offer to buy the Toon from Mike Ashley.

This led to Castles discussing what went wrong and what is in store for the Toon’s future.

One of the topics discussed was what Staveley will do now.

Castles said: “There is a sense from what I am hearing that certainly Amanda Staveley would like to restart the process, would like to complete this deal.

“She has lost a significant amount of money, in that the £17m deposit that the group put forward, in order to have their bid accepted by Mike Ashley and in order for the Premier League to make a judgement on it, has been lost by the bidders.”

So, it seems that Staveley, despite losing money in this process, still wants to buy Newcastle.

Do you think Staveley will be back?

Yes, she will keep trying and hopefully she will buy us

No, I hope not as she keeps failing

TIF Thoughts…

Staveley tried to buy the Toon before in the 2017/18 season, and that ended with sources close to Mike Ashley coming out and stating that the whole process had been a ‘waste of time’.

She returned with the backing of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and the Reuben brothers, only for the Premier League to not make a decision on the takeover, which led to the consortium withdrawing its bid.

However, according to Castles, she still wants to buy Newcastle, and judging by her interview with George Caulkin, she certainly seems to have a lot of affection for Newcastle and their fans.

So, we will have to wait and see if she will be back with another bid or if she will move on to something else.
