Many Newcastle United supporters have been responding to a tweet from @NUFC360 which relays the comments of Ian Lavery MP.
As per the Chronicle, Lavery and his fellow MPs have not received ‘any response whatsoever’ from the Premier League, having written to them with regards to the failed takeover of the club. A Newcastle-supporting MP, Lavery was one of 40 who committed to writing to the league’s governing body, but it seems their efforts have been met with radio silence.
The Saudi-backed consortium which hoped to take control of the Magpies withdrew its offer on July 30, but there has still been no word from the Premier League on what exactly caused the delays with regards to the outcome of its owners’ and directors’ test.
Here is how a sample of the club’s supporters have responded to the post on social media:
Not only do the Premier League show utter contempt for NUFC fans but also the democratically elected government of the Country it’s based in.Does their disrespect know no bounds time for change #GeordiesDemandAnswers #PremierLeagueIsCorrupt

The Premier league really arent helping themselves here, incompetent and embarrassing organisation from top to bottom.

Yet they responded to every man and his dog who were against it, to add the media storm.
Their agenda is proven, an their corruption exposed.
Someone with power needs to do something now, this is an utter disgrace that they will just get away with it.

They’re making it worse for themselves as each day passes without comment. Silence is almost the same as an admission of guilt at this point.

Do you think the failed takeover could still be on the cards?
Yes
No
It’s clear from the above responses that many of these supporters have grown very frustrated with the way the Premier League has dealt with the situation and the silence appears to have particularly irritated sections of the St. James’ Park faithful. However, there were fans who remained optimistic that the deal can still be completed.
I believe the PL cannot fail it, but clearly don’t want to pass it, so they cannot say or do anything. I believe Ashley will force their hand and they will be forced to pass it.

For the time being, there are no suggestions that the deal will be resurrected and that the Saudi-backed consortium will be permitted to take control of the club. However, given the pressure being applied to the Premier League even now, we certainly can’t rule anything out.
