Football journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft has been discussing the latest news surrounding a potential transfer move for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

Can you score 20/20 on this Premier League quiz? Starting off easy, who is the top scorer in the Premier League this season?

On the topic of Sancho, who United have been chasing this summer, Fjortoft had this to say on the matter on the Liverpool-focused show.

He said: “There is no signal yet from the player that he will do anything big to kind of have trouble with the club, quite the opposite, he sounds perfectly okay. I spoke to people at Dortmund today and they said because there was still [talks] now in the English media that Manchester United are confident that they will get him but first of all, there is no bid for Manchester United and Dortmund are saying ‘why should we let him go, it would embarrass us to the whole world.’

“I think as it stands, it’s more likely that he would go next summer and I think that is good news for every other club’s fans because this is a great player.”

Sancho signed to Dortmund back in 2017 for a fee of £7.05 million from Manchester City.

Since he made his senior debut for the Bundesliga club, the winger has pushed on to score 34 goals and provide 43 assists in 99 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions (per Transfermarkt).

The 2019/20 Bundesliga season saw the winger make 32 appearances for Dortmund in which he scored 17 goals and provided 16 assists. The 20-year-old’s performances in those appearances earned him a season rating of 7.64/10, making him their highest-rated player for the campaign (per WhoScored).

The Englishman is currently valued at £105.3 million according to Transfermarkt, making him the most valuable player in the Bundesliga at the moment.

Would you be happy if United waited until next summer to sign Sancho?

TIF Thoughts…

It appears as though Fjortoft doesn’t feel like Sancho will be making a move to United this summer with him being comfortable at Dortmund for the time being. It will now be interesting to wait and see if the Manchester club would be willing to wait a year and try and sign Sancho next summer instead.
