Football journalist Mark Ogden has shared some information on Manchester United’s transfer pursuit of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

This comes after Ogden recently appeared in a video from the ESPN FC YouTube channel in which he spoke about Sancho and the current situation of a potential deal being made between United and Dortmund that would see the winger move to Old Trafford this summer.

He said: “I don’t see Sancho going to United any time soon. From what I’ve been told, Sancho hasn’t even agreed personal terms with United yet, and his agent hasn’t agreed his fee for negotiating the deal, so they haven’t even got to the stage yet of speaking to Borussia Dortmund about a fee – so there are three key factors in this: player wages, agent’s fee, fee for the transfer with Dortmund – and none have been agreed.

“I’ve been told that United are still some distance away from negotiating a fee with the agent and in terms of player wages, again, it’s quite a long way away. The window stays open until the beginning of October so there’s plenty of time to get this deal done, but it’s turning into a saga and I think United at some point will have to say ‘look, if we can’t get Sancho done, we have to look at alternatives.'”

Sancho signed to the Bundesliga club back in 2017 for a fee of £7.05 million.

Since he made his senior debut for Dortmund, the Englishman has gone on to score 34 goals and provide 43 assists in 99 appearances for the German team across all competitions (per Transfermarkt).

The 2019/20 Bundesliga season saw the winger make 32 appearances for Dortmund in which he scored 17 goals and provided 16 assists.

The 20-year-old’s performances in those league appearances for Lucien Favre’s side earned him a season rating of 7.64/10, making him their highest-rated player for the campaign (per WhoScored).

The former Manchester City winger is currently valued at £105.3 million according to Transfermarkt.

TIF Thoughts…

After Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc came out and revealed earlier this month that Sancho would not be leaving the German club this summer, this could well be the reason why United haven’t agreed any terms with Sancho, his agent or Dortmund yet as Ogden claimed in the video.
