Liverpool journalist Connor Dunn has been sharing some insight into the upcoming departure of the Reds’ chief executive Peter Moore.

This comes after Dunn recently made an appearance on the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast to talk about a range of topics concerning the Merseyside club.

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

After it was recently reported that Moore would be stepping down from his position at Liverpool at the end of August to be replaced by Billy Hogan, who is currently the club’s managing director and chief commercial officer, Dunn shared some extra information on the matter.

He said: “Essentially, Peter Moore’s contract was a three-year fixed-term deal, we understand. This was always the plan. He’s stepping down; basically, his wife and he both have children back in America, which is where they’ve come from. He’s going back there for his children and for his family and for family reasons, and from what I’ve been led to believe, this is all really on his terms.

“This is a big step up for Billy Hogan. Billy Hogan’s worked for FSG since 2004. Hogan was actually the man who brokered the deal between Liverpool and Nike, so he’s somebody that obviously has a big vision for Liverpool’s future and it’s an exciting one, at that.”

Do you expect this change to have a big impact on the club?

Yes, potentially

No, not really

No, not really

According to the official Liverpool club website, Moore took the position as the Reds’ CEO back in 2017 and has since “played an important role in the club’s commercial, community and civic responsibilities.”

During that time, Liverpool have become Premier League champions, Champions League winners as well as lifting the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts…

It sounds like Moore’s departure from the club has been planned out and that his exit has not come as a shock to anyone at the club.

It’s good that the club have already worked out who will be replacing Moore when he eventually leaves at the end of the month. This shows that they have the situation organised and under control.
