LFC Daytrippers panellist Grizz Khan believes that Thiago Alcantara will become a Liverpool player this summer.

The Spaniard currently represents the Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich but has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, in particular to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. The 29-year-old came through Barcelona’s youth setup and went on to make 100 appearances for the Catalan giants, scoring on 11 occasions and providing his teammates with 20 assists (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk).

2018/19 season quiz: How many points did Jurgen Klopp's side accumulate in the Premier League?

In July 2013, the Bavarian club paid £22.5m to acquire the central midfielder’s services and he has gone on to become a seven-time Bundesliga champion. Since he swapped Catalonia for Germany, he has played 231 times for Bayern, scoring 31 goals and producing 37 assists (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the player is valued at £43.2m but despite his price tag, Khan appears confident the Spanish international is on his way to Merseyside. On a recent edition of the podcast, he said: “According to my opinion and [from] what I know, Thiago is a dead cert, as Naby Keita was.”

TIF Thoughts…

Thiago was Bayern Munich’s fourth-most consistent performer in the Bundesliga this season with an average performance rating of 7.47/10 according to WhoScored.com, highlighting that even in a team full of top-quality footballers, the midfielder stands out.

It remains to be seen whether a deal can be reached between the two clubs for the transfer of Thiago this summer with the player still having approximately 11 months on his current contract with Bayern. However, if the Reds are to capture the Italian-born midfielder, in our view, based on the above, he would add further quality to the Premier League winning squad.
